Subcontract openings – FM 359 corridor

TV Hanging Technician Jobs in Richmond, TX 77406

This board will send you from a finished living room in an established subdivision to a metal workshop on five acres without ever leaving the ZIP code. EVOTECH IT LLC wants hanging technicians who can fix into a steel girt as confidently as into a stud wall, and who are not thrown by a gate, a gravel drive and no signal on the phone.

One ZIP code, two completely different kinds of address

77406 spreads north and west of the river and never settles into a single pattern. Established subdivisions along the FM 359 and FM 1093 corridors sit beside tracts of open land carrying a house, a barn and a workshop, and both of them land on the same route sheet.

That is the reason we recruit separately for this ZIP. Somebody who only works finished interiors will lose half a day on an acreage call, and somebody who only works shops will make a mess of a customer’s formal living room. We are looking for people who can switch between the two without changing their standard.

It also changes the shape of the day. Stops are further apart here than anywhere else we cover, so we schedule fewer of them and expect each one finished properly rather than rushed to squeeze in a fourth.

Mounting inside a steel shop is not the same trade as mounting in a house

Workshops, equipment barns and the growing number of barn-style homes out here are framed in red iron with purlins and girts, then clad in thin ribbed sheeting. That sheeting will carry a picture frame. It will not carry a television, and fixing a mount to it is the single most common piece of work we are called out to undo on this route.

  • Find the steel. Girts run horizontally across the wall frame at fairly predictable spacing. A magnet and a careful probe locate them faster than reading the screw lines from outside and hoping.
  • Spread the load. Where a bracket will not line up on two members, span them with strut or a plywood backer fixed properly to the steel, then mount to that.
  • Use the right fastener. Self-drilling structural screws rated for the gauge you are going into, not whatever came in the box with the mount.
  • Respect the insulation. Vinyl-faced blanket tears easily and it is doing a vapour-barrier job. Cut it cleanly and close what you opened.

Condensation is the other thing to plan around. An uninsulated building sweats, so cable should not be left lying against cold steel and connections belong somewhere they can dry out.

Covered porches, outdoor kitchens and what the heat does to them

Covered patios and outdoor kitchens are ordinary requests on this route, and a large share of them arrive with an indoor television already in the box.

Say so plainly before it goes up. A standard panel under a porch roof lives in high humidity, swings through a wide temperature range in a single day and draws insects into its vents. An outdoor-rated display is built for that and an indoor one is not. The customer may want it hung anyway, which is their call, but it should be an informed one.

The rest of an outdoor mount is corrosion and water management. Stainless or properly coated hardware, a drip loop ahead of every connector, cable rated for sunlight wherever it is exposed, and an arm that will still articulate in two years. Check behind any existing panel for wasp and dirt-dauber nests before you put a hand in there, and look at where the afternoon sun actually lands before you fix the position. A screen that is unwatchable from four o’clock onward generates a callback even when it is perfectly level.

Inside the established neighbourhoods off FM 359

The subdivision half of this ZIP is largely eighties and nineties construction on slabs, with mature trees over the streets and interiors that have been through at least one remodel.

Expect full-height brick fireplaces in the den, formal rooms being converted into offices and media spaces, and low-voltage cable that has been added to by two or three different people over the years. The wall plate you find is not always connected to what the label on it says, so test before you build a plan around it.

Attic work in these houses is simple in geometry and brutal in summer temperature. Go up early in the day where the schedule allows, carry water with you, and do not push through heat symptoms to save a second trip. A technician who comes down and reschedules a cable run is a far better outcome for everybody than one who puts a boot through a ceiling.

Long drives, gates, dogs and no bars on the phone

Reaching the wall is its own skill out here, and it is worth thinking through before you accept a rural day.

  • Gates. Plenty of properties have a keypad or a chain at the road. Get the code with the appointment, and if you open a gate on land with animals behind it, close it behind you.
  • Drives. Long gravel approaches with nowhere obvious to turn a vehicle around. Look before you commit, and park where you can leave without reversing a quarter of a mile.
  • Dogs. Working dogs on acreage are a different proposition from a family pet. Ask the customer to secure them and wait until that has actually happened.
  • Signal. Coverage thins once you are off the main roads. Download the ticket, the address and anything you need before you leave pavement, and agree a call-in time so nobody is guessing where you are.

What you carry when the trade counter is thirty minutes away

There is no supply house five minutes down the road on most of this route, so the vehicle has to be the store. The table below is what technicians here find they genuinely reach for.

Requirements, screening and how work reaches you

EVOTECH IT LLC carries a low-voltage licence, full insurance, two decades of trading and a five-star rating, with a territory running from Cypress and Katy across to Sugar Land, Richmond and Fulshear. Work on this route goes to independent technicians who hold their own general liability cover, complete a W-9, pass background screening and arrive with a vehicle and tools that suit the ground described above.

We are less interested in a long résumé than in specifics. The heaviest panel you have set on your own. What you would fix a full-motion arm to inside a metal workshop. How you would talk a customer out of a mount position that is not going to work for them.

What the work pays is worked out when we meet, against the range of jobs you are willing to cover and what you have already done. Reach us on (832) 359-2425, or leave a note on the contact form, and say which end of this ZIP suits you better.

Frequently asked questions

All my experience is residential, none of it in steel buildings. Am I out?
Yes, if you are willing to learn the fixing method properly rather than improvise one. We would start you on residential stops and pair you for the first shop calls. What we cannot use is somebody who screws a bracket into ribbed sheeting and drives away.
How far apart are appointments on this route?
Further apart than anywhere else in our territory. Expect fewer stops with real drive time between them instead of a tight cluster you can walk between.
Are workshop and barn installs treated differently from house calls?
Scope is what changes between a single bedroom mount and a fifteen-foot shop wall, and scope is part of the interview conversation. What you earn is settled in that same conversation, alongside what you are equipped to handle.
Do I need to be comfortable around livestock and loose dogs?
On a meaningful share of these addresses, yes. If that is not for you, say so early and we will route your days differently rather than find out on the driveway.
Is there a height limit on what you will ask me to do?
If it cannot be reached safely from a properly footed ladder or a stable platform, it is not a one-person job and we schedule it accordingly. Nobody here is expected to improvise height access.
Can I take on network cabling as well as mounting?
If you can terminate and test a data drop, tell us. Mixed scopes are common out here, particularly in workshops and home offices, and a technician who can do both is worth more on a long drive.
What happens if I arrive and cannot get onto the property?
Ring dispatch before you leave the gate. Missing codes, chained entrances and loose animals are common enough that we would rather reschedule with a clear record than have somebody sitting at the road for an hour.

Happy in a living room and inside a steel workshop?

That is a rare combination and it is exactly what this route needs. Phone (832) 359-2425, or introduce yourself on the contact form.
